Please note that funding is not guaranteed, and as a general rule, participants are expected to secure their own funding for travel and accommodation. However, below you will find links to external mobility funding. Please pay attention to eligibility criteria for each funding opportunity to see if you are eligible to apply.
This website will be continually updated as funding resources become relevant/available. If you cannot find an opportunity that is suited for you, please check this page regularly leading up to the conference.
If you as an individual are not eligible/selected for funding, but you are a member of an organisation relevant to the topics of the AYC, please explore the option of having your organisation apply for funding for you. We have provided some resources for this below.
Please refer to our email and application templates to find a starting point for securing funding for your mobility, through your organisation or as an individual.

If you are part of an organization with an interest in the Arctic, contact them and ask if they are able to sponsor your mobility. Organizations are often interested in being represented at major conferences related to their work!
Don’t be afraid to reach out to local politicians or institutions and ask if they have any opportunities for sponsorship. Sometimes local government or public institutions will have resources for these things, often related to lifting youth. See our email template on how to reach out to local public institutions here!
When contacting external funders, always emphasize what they will get out of your participation. By participating at the AYC you will gain unique knowledge and have access to a unique network. This is valuable to many different entities. Make it clear that by supporting your mobility, they are supporting youth leadership in the Arctic, and that you can support their initiatives within this area as well, for example by providing them with social media content from the conference!
We know that traveling within the Arctic can be expensive, and that travel options are limited. Here are a few ways to make your travel cheaper:
Airlines flying to Tromsø may have youth discounts:
Other international airlines may have similar discounts. Always check for these!
Packing light may allow you to save a lot of money as most European and all Norwegian airlines charge for checked luggage. See if you can pack what you need in your hand luggage by packing clothing items you can re-wear for different occasions and only bringing things you really need.
If you have an overnight layover in Oslo, here are some budget-friendly accommodations:
