© Arctic Council Secretariat Full speed towards a transition as the Norwegian Chairship of the Arctic Council meets with Indigenous Permanent Participant Organizations January 27, 2025 The fourth meeting between the Norwegian Chairship (2023-2025) and the Permanent Participants of the Arctic Council included a conversation with youth, updates from Working Group activities, progress from the Norwegian Chairship, preparations for the incoming Kingdom of Denmark Chairship (2025-2027) and an update on Permanent Participants’ activities On 27 January, the Chair of the Arctic Council Senior Arctic Officials (SAOC) held a meeting with the six Indigenous Peoples’ organizations that have Permanent Participant status in the Arctic Council. More than 50 participants gathered for the in-person meeting in Tromsø, Norway on the margins of the Norwegian Chairship’s Arctic Youth Conference and Arctic Frontiers conference. The meeting comes just over three months before the Norwegian Chairship concludes and the Kingdom of Denmark’s Chairship begins at the 14th meeting of the Arctic Council on 12 May 2025.
