Taking place under the midnight sun in Bodø, the European Cultural Capital of 2024, and hosted by Nordland Research Institute and Nord University, the congress aligns with the Norwegian Chairship of the Arctic Council's priorities, creating a forum for Arctic researchers, knowledge holders and policy makers to collaborate and address critical regional issues. We spoke with Grete Hovelsrud, President of the International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA), and Lars Kullerud, President of the University of the Arctic (UArctic). They shared their reasons for merging their conferences, their vision for the congress's contribution to the Arctic Council's initiatives, and the opportunities awaiting participants.
